Internet Access Rules and Information

General

            * Internet use must be consistent with the Library Use Policy and the Public Access Internet Policy.

            *Respect should be shown to other library users and staff.

                        -Noise levels should be kept down.

                        -Use of bandwidth should not affect others' ability to use the internet.

                        - Respect for the privacy and sensibility of others should be shown by not displaying images which are likely to prove objectionable.

Library Public Access Computers

            * Reservations to use the PACs may be made up to three days in advance. Use is limited to one hour per day.

            *No more than two people may use a PAC at one time. Shared time counts toward the allowed use of both individuals.

            * YC Law Library websites may be used in excess of one hour per day if  necessary to complete a search.

            * Headphones are available at each PAC

            * Black and white prints cost $.25 per page, partial color $.50 and full color $1.00. Prints must be picked up at the circulation desk.

            * To save work, print it, copy it to a floppy disk (available at the desk for $1.00), or email it to yourself. All work will be lost at 'log off'.

            *The PAC computers are virus free but we cannot guarantee that your material will not be infected from the Internet.

            *Children under 6 must have a parent or guardian present with them at the PACs.

            *Children under 16 who wish to use the PAC independently must have a library card and permission form on file signed by a parent or guardian.

            * Staff are not allowed to provide direct assistance in use of computers or software.

 Wireless Access

            *Your use of the library's internet access constitutes your acceptance of the Public Access Internet Policy.

            *Wireless users  are responsible for configuring their own equipment.

            *The parents or guardians of children with laptops are responsible for supervising and guaranteeing their child's proper and safe use of the internet.

            *Printing is not available from laptops.

            *The library's wireless network is not secure. Use virus protection, personal firewalls, or other measures to protect the information on your laptop.
